Motivational Monday #336: Take the Time
We spend so much of our lives thinking about what’s next.
The next meeting. The next call. The next deadline. The next goal. The next thing on our list.
But when we’re constantly focused on what’s coming, it’s easy to miss what’s happening right now.
Take the time to be present.
When you’re having a conversation, really listen. Put the phone down. Stop thinking about what you’re going to say next and focus on understanding the person in front of you.
When you’re working on something important, give it your attention instead of letting your mind race ahead to the next task.
When you’re with your family, friends, teammates, or clients, be where your feet are.
Some of the strongest relationships aren’t built through grand gestures. They’re built in the small moments when someone realizes, “You’re actually here with me. You’re listening. You care.”
The future will arrive soon enough.
- Take the time to appreciate the conversation.
- Take the time to listen.
- Take the time to connect.
- Take the time to be present.
Don’t become so distracted by what’s next that you miss the value of right now.
Closing thought:
Your presence is one of the greatest gifts you can give another person. Take the time.
